Something i posted on the irish parkour site over a year ago now, oh nostalgia, but it's here if you want a read
It's pretty and colour coded on the irish site, makes it easier to read but this forum set up confuses me so i won't attempt it
Learn. Teach. Perfect. Flow.
Learn :
Most of you spend majority of you're time learning new things, different vaults, new tricks, a cat grab. And right too! There's so much parkour/tricking/free-running to be learnt, whether it's using the classic movements or making up your own that make it easier for YOU to flow. And that's what's important no? Getting the movements you want , you like, that work with YOU and your environment. We're always learning, whether we're regarded as a 'n00b' or a more 'experienced' traceur/traceuse. Why not learn together? You can learn something from them too no? Maybe pass on some knowledge? This brings me to my next step.
Teach:
Teach what you know, it took the 'parkour elders' years to learn and get movements 'down'. But what's some of parkour about? Efficiency? If you agree then BE efficient and help those who want to learn a movement you know well how to do. Be helpful, it helps the community, the flow, the fun, the family feeling, after all ye do tend to be pretty welcoming, if i remember correctly(!) Pass on your knowledge and make things more efficient.
Perfect :
None of us will ever be truly happy with everything, why you ask? Cause of my first point, LEARN. We are ALWAYS learning, discovering, BUT we can perfect/improve movements, improve flow, improve speed, improve mind. Keep at it, you want something 'down' you'll get there, keep going, keep trying, keep improving, keep seeing, and most importantly, keep moving. Everything can get better, smoother or well we can get, harder, better, faster, stronger. (My lord i love Daft Punk)
Flow :
Sometimes we get caught up in ONE movement (not everyone before ye start defending ) but remember vary your parkour and then you can flow, don't forget a movement 'cause you think you have it 'down'. And if you do think so, put it in a flow, a run, or whatever you like to call it. Now do you have it down? Parkour is also about flow, treat it like another movement, ALWAYS being able to improve. Help your flow and open you're mind to a world of imagination where you walk down the street and can see a possible movement here, there and everywhere.
So what am I really on about, i'm on about helping eachother and therefore helping ourselves.
I'm on about not forgetting the flow, or the parkour spirit, the mind, the love?
Maybe i'm just rambling, maybe i'm giving ye some stuff to think about.
